A ministry and mission of Carmichael Presbyterian Church
We want to provide an enriched, loving environment where the children feel comfortable. Our school will stress the joy of living each day and the wonder of each child’s individuality.
We want to educate the whole child: spiritually, physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially, by providing the child with successful learning experiences in these areas.
We want to ensure the child’s future success in other learning situations by helping each child to develop a positive attitude about him/herself and about learning. We will provide the child with beginning academic experiences in small groups which will progress at the child’s own pace.
We want to foster a sense of respect in the child for parents, staff, peers, personal belongings and property.
We want to help each child gain a degree of independence so that he/she will be comfortable in our Preschool setting and in other out-of-home environments.
We will stress language development in our program so that each child will be better able to express his/her own thoughts and feelings more easily.
We will incorporate all of the cultures represented in our classroom into our curriculum.
We will help each child accept responsibility for his/her own actions and to understand the consequences of these actions. We will do this by communicating to each child the value of and reasons behind the rules of our school.
We will keep accurate records of each child’s progress in our program and keep parents informed of their child’s progress.
We will provide parents with information about our program by parent conferences with staff, parent meetings, parent newsletters, and an open policy which fosters the free exchange of ideas and information. We will recognize parent’s rights and be available to listen to any concerns a parent may have.

5 Day Transitional Kindergarten - Mrs. McCarthy
Welcome to Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool. I am Deb Sweetman – Mrs. McCarthy. I am excited to begin a new school year. Let me begin by expressing my gratitude for the privilege of working at CPP with the finest staff, children and families in the Sacramento/Carmichael area. I feel blessed! I began teaching at CPP in 1998 and I have taught in each classroom, except Mrs. D’s room. I began my preschool career in 1983 and previously worked in Head Start Preschool in the San Juan Unified School District for 12 years. Also, for many years I was a licensed Family Home Child Care Provider. My education is in Early Childhood Education, A.A. and a B.S. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Family Studies. My personal life is very busy after school providing childcare for my 4 great nieces and nephews, ages 11, 9, 8, 6 and my twin grandsons 12 y.o. My oldest son lives out of state. My daughter and son are both in college, have jobs and are creating a life of their own, although they do live with me. I love spending time with my family and enjoy my kids being close. I have lived in the Sacramento/Carmichael area my entire life and enjoy the close proximity to parks, the river, lakes, mountains and ocean. I love nature and sunny days with cool weather. I also enjoy reading and the arts, anything artsy – theater, music, art, sculpture, photography, all of it. And most of all, I love spending my days with your children, helping to foster the joy of learning, exploration and observing their growth!
3 Day Kindergarten Readiness & 2 Day Preschool - Ms. Evans
Welcome to Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool! My name is Leslie Evans and this is my eleventh year at CPP. I have threedaughters; Vanessa, 30 years, and 19 year old twins, Brenda and Sabrina, who graduated from El Camino High School last year. Vanessa was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 11 and graduated from American River College in May of 2012 with two degrees; Brenda and Sabrina are also attending ARC. I am so very proud of all my young ladies! I am very involved with my Church, Northminster Presbyterian, teaching Sunday school preschoolers and helping extensively with youth groups. I was on the Carmichael Soccer Board for 6 years and was Girl Scout Leader for 10 years. Do you get the feeling I love volunteering! I am big into recycling (as the rest of the staff at CPP can attest), love visiting the ocean and the SF Exploratorium, listening to country music and love, love, love the color purple! I am very lucky be working with some of the most amazing and talented women!
3 Day Kindergarten Readiness & 2 Day Preschool - Mrs. Martinez
The parent committee at Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool is composed of parent representatives, church members representing the Education Division of the church, and the Director. The committee meets once per month and sets preschool policy, approves the budget, organizes fundraising and social gatherings, and support the staff & children when needed.
