 Director  -  Diana Foote

Greetings!  My name is Diana Foote and this is my 16th year with Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool, my 8th year as director!  I have an AA in Early Childhood Education from American River College.  I began at CPP as a parent of a child in the 5-day program.  I suppose I hung around too much as I was soon hired to work part-time as a teacher’s aide and from there I moved in to teaching the extended day program, then a morning class, and finally ending up behind the desk in the preschool office!  My preschooler has just celebrated his 20th birthday and, contrary to all appearances, I haven’t aged a day!  (Work with me here…)  I live in south Sacramento with my 83 years young mother and her acrobatic cat.  My passions, outside of working with young children, include opera, theatre, and golfing with my boyfriend, Doug!  (Last summer it was kayaking and dancing lessons!  I love learning something new!)

Brenda Descalso

5 day Program Teacher

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at CPP.  It is hard to believe that this will be my 16th year at CPP but since I started when my son David started Kindergarten and he is now a junior at Chico State I guess I can’t deny it.  What really makes me feel old is that I’ve been teaching preschool for 27 years so if any of you are 31 or younger I could have been your preschool teacher!  My husband Tony, an engineer with Sac Metro Fire Dept., and I are celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary this month.  My daughter Kimberly is beginning her college career at Sonoma State.  To give me an outlet for my mothering tendencies (to save my husband from them!) we got a puppy. He is more spoiled than any dog we’ve ever had.

As for me, since completing my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education in May of 2006 I’ve had free afternoons.  Now that we’re empty nesters I will be tutoring elementary students a couple of days a week.  I believe being a preschool teacher is my calling.  I am looking forward to getting to know your children and sharing with them the joy of learning.

Leslie Evans

Room 108  - 2 & 3 Day Program Teacher

Welcome and welcome back to Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool. My name is Leslie Evans. This is my fifth year at CPP. I have three daughters, Vanessa who is 23 years old and attends American River College and 13 year old twins, Brenda and Sabrina who attend Arcade Middle School.

Debra McCarthy

Room 109  - 2 & 3 Day Program Teacher

My name is Debra S. McCarthy. My friends call me Deb. I have lived in Sacramento/Carmichael, in this surrounding neighborhood, my entire life. I enjoy the close proximity to parks, the river, lakes, mountains and ocean and love the sunny days, although I prefer cooler weather!  My daily life is filled with many joys, responsibilities and lots of semi-controlled chaos, with two daughters in high school, two sons in middle school, my mother with Alzheimer’s and daily visits with my twin grandsons who are in first grade. There’s always something happening at my house!

Professionally, I have worked in preschool since 1983. I began teaching at Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool in 1998 and I have taught in each classroom, except Mrs. D’s room. It is with great pleasure and personal blessings that I have the privilege to be a part of the wonderful CPP Staff.  They are my family away from home and the finest teachers, aides and director in Sacramento! Prior to working at CPP, I worked in the Head Start Preschool Program in the San Juan Unified School District for 12 years and was a Family Home Child Care Provider for over 17 years. I have an A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education and a B.S. in Counseling Psychology/Family Studies. Currently, I am pursuing a couple of advanced certifications and hope to complete them this school year.

Megan Kays

Room 107  - 2 & 3 Day Program Teacher

I graduated from UC Irvine in 2005 with a degree in Psychology and Social Behavior.  During my time at UC Irvine I was a teacher’s assistant at the Early Childhood Education Center on campus.  After I graduated I taught at Northwood Montessori School.  I have been a teacher here at CPP for two years.  I am currently working on my Master’s in Child Development at Sacramento State University.
