Dear Parents and Friends,
WELCOME to Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool! It is so exciting for us to begin our 25th year of operation and we are especially pleased that you have chosen to take this journey with us. We serve over 70 families and many of our children are the second or third child in their family to attend our preschool. Some years we have siblings and their cousins too! We are proud to have grown, under the guidance of the Education Division of Carmichael Presbyterian Church, into a top-quality program with a respected reputation in our community.
Carmichael Presbyterian Preschool will provide a warm and loving environment for your child to experience the joys and wonder of childhood. We realize how important the first six years of your child's life are in the development of positive attitudes about learning and it is our goal to give your child many opportunities to experience success.
We hope to get to know you and your child(ren) quickly and acquaint you personally with our fine staff and our exceptional program. We welcome you into our hearts and lives in the spirit of Christian education. Diana Foote Director
Philosophy
We want to provide an enriched, loving environment where the children feel comfortable. Our school will stress the joy of living each day and the wonder of each child’s individuality.
We want to educate the whole child: spiritually, physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially, by providing the child with successful learning experiences in these areas.
We want to ensure the child’s future success in other learning situations by helping each child to develop a positive attitude about him/herself and about learning. We will provide the child with beginning academic experiences in small groups which will progress at the child’s own pace.
We want to foster a sense of respect in the child for parents, staff, peers, personal belongings and property.
We want to help each child gain a degree of independence so that he/she will be comfortable in our Preschool setting and in other out-of-home environments.
We will stress language development in our program so that each child will be better able to express his/her own thoughts and feelings more easily.
We will incorporate all of the cultures represented in our classroom into our curriculum.
We will help each child accept responsibility for his/her own actions and to understand the consequences of these actions. We will do this by communicating to each child the value of and reasons behind the rules of our school.
We will keep accurate records of each child’s progress in our program and keep parents informed of their child’s progress.
We will provide parents with information about our program by parent conferences with staff, parent meetings, parent newsletters, and an open policy which fosters the free exchange of ideas and information. We will recognize parent’s rights and be available to listen to any concerns a parent may have.
